Dolphin Emulator APK Lite: Tips and Tricks for Optimizing the Dolphin GameCube and Wii Emulator on Android

Development versions are released every time a developer makes a change to Dolphin, several times every day! Using development versions enables you to use the latest and greatest improvements to the project. They are however less tested than beta versions of the emulator.

Yes, Dolphin Emulator is free. The first version of the emulator, in 2003, had a proprietary license. In 2008, however, Dolphin Emulator was moved to a GPLv2 license, and in 2013 it was relicensed with GPLv2+.

When emulating on an Android device, I prefer to use RetroArch whenever possible, to take advantage of universal hotkeys, cheats, and Retro Achievements. However, performance on RetroArch can sometimes be less optimized than on standalone emulators. For the Odin in particular, I recommend using RetroArch for everything up through PS1. There are some systems that will perform well enough on RetroArch (Saturn, NDS, PSP, N64, and Dreamcast) for many games, but in general the standalone emulators are preferred.

Hello everyone I have been playing with the Dolphin emulator on my cell phone for 1-2 days ((Huawei p30 lite) The cell phone is very new, I got it on May 17th, 20th for my birthday)) and it strikes me very much with certain games like Super Mario sunshine, Star Fox adventures and other games that don't run so smoothly and I wanted to ask if you could change anything? (I downloaded the Dolphin emulator from Google play) So that it works better. I'm looking forward to being honest and correct Answers (and I don't have a PC, computer on which I can play the games) ps it would be great if there was a solution for it please explain exactly it was very difficult for me to get 1 game to run at all so please describe in detail what I have to do!

Unfortunately, you will hardly be able to change anything because you need a fairly high-end processor for the Dolphin emulator. The P30 Lite has only one HiSilicon Kirin 710, which is roughly comparable to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665. That means in good German: your processor is a middle class processor and therefore very badly suited for hardware-heavy emulators. In addition, the 710's integrated graphics unit is much faster than that of its larger Kirin brothers. If you want to play emulators on a cell phone, it is always best to use a cell phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The remaining processors like Samsung Exynos and Huawei HiSilicon Kirin, as they are not all called, have very poorly optimized graphics drivers when it comes to emulation.

A chap over on the Dolphin-emu forums called Zhang Wei has went and done some amazing wizardry specifically for Kirin based devices. Moving onto the emulator itself, it's brilliant compared to the original, the results which I've seen for myself are nothing short of spectacular, not every game is perfect (but then no emulator is perfect) All the games I tried ran at a solid 60fps without anomalies and without any crashes, below i'll post specifically how to replicate this on your devices and any files you'll need, it's not hard but one thing i have found that i needed was GPU Boost, anyone who has EMUI 8.1 past 130 will already have this, if you like me are running a non EMUI ROM then you can install the Magisk module for the same effect. Although I believe that this version of Dolphin is made for Honor / Huawei devices, some Samsung devices run Mali so should see the same benefits, albeit without GPU turbo.

Users began requesting a portable version of it.Being an emulator for the 3DS, a handheld console, they wanted something they could carry everywhere and play games anywhere, and it came in the form of an Android app.During the glory days of Citra development, users would ask almost daily if we had an Android app or if we planned to make one. This had become such a frequent occurence that we had to add it to our Discord server FAQ.Do you plan on making an Android app? No, not at this moment.

A couple of final notes. First is that Real Wii Remote is not being replaced. It may not have any of these excellent features, but its plug-and-play nature is still our most accessible way to use Wii Remotes in Dolphin, and that is something we don't want to lose. Also, none of these changes apply to Bluetooth Passthrough. That is a separate option where we give the emulated environment direct control over a Bluetooth device. As such, Dolphin has no knowledge about connected Wii Remotes or the state of the Bluetooth adapter. While this allows you to bypass a large chunk of emulation for real behaviors, and bypasses a great deal of issues in the process, it also limits what the emulator can do. None of these features or enhancements will ever apply to Bluetooth passthrough.

While an emulator can't do much on its own to increase the framerate of a game, one of our users, ehw, believed that it would be possible to modify the game to run at a higher framerate. Mixed with the enhancements in Dolphin, ehw modified Super Mario Sunshine to run at 60 FPS without doubling the speed of the game!

Super Mario Sunshine's current 60 FPS hack comprises of three (and an optional fourth) part. Firstly, the vbeam speedhack has to be turned on in order to modify the timings of the emulator. It's possible that simply flipping Dolphin's framelimit to run at 120 FPS would be fine, but the emulator stretches audio at non-standard framerates, blocking this possiblity for now. Secondly, a small game patch is applied. This actually makes the gameplay run half speed at 30 FPS. Thirdly, Dolphin's audio timings are modified to run at half speed; so the game also sounds normal at double speed. Lastly, on some versions of the hack, the level select cheat is required to get into certain stages.

PlayStation 2 emulation has been in a weird place on Android for a long, long time. While it's been possible to emulate the system on your smartphone using a certain emulator available on the Play Store, allegations of stolen code and unethical business practices meant many, ourselves included, refused to promote the app, even if it was the best way to play them. Now, AetherSX2 is the best way to play PlayStation 2 games on your Android smartphone. It's free, it's fast, and you can now download it from the Google Play Store. You just need a smartphone with top-of-the-line specifications.

Note that all of these tests were also run on a private, alpha build of the emulator, but you can see how good the performance is. Things have only improved since then, and with more powerful smartphones available on the market, too. You'll get even better results than we did here if you have a device with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or even the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

There are really only two alternative emulators out there for PlayStation 2 emulation. One is Play!, a high-level emulator that doesn't require a BIOS to run, and the other is in violation of the license agreement of PCSX2. While AetherSX2 uses PCSX2 code, the developers of PCSX2 have given AetherSX2 their graces, explaining that, in essence, its core code is LGPLv3-licensed.

If you've seen any footage from AetherSX2 as well, you'll have noticed that there's no D-Pad, and there's only one control stick. That can be changed in the middle of a game from accessing the emulator menu to display those extra controls too. The problem is that because of the decreased screen real estate, there's no reason to show those all the time, especially as plenty of games work without them. The only game I had problems with in relation to this was Ratchet: Gladiator since the second control stick is needed to turn the camera around.

Given the alternatives for PlayStation 2 emulation in the past, AetherSX2 is a fantastic step forward. Its support from the PCSX2 developers also goes a long way, and we're looking forward to seeing how the emulator grows and matures in the future. I'm personally excited to see how the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will fare. Be sure to give it a try.

I'm developing an Android app using Huawei's Push service. I have installed DevEco IDE plugin within Android Studio. But I don't have any Huawei device to test. So my question is that there is any Huawei's Android phone emulator or not for Windows PC. So, I can test and debug app. Thanks in advance.

If your app depends on any Hardware/Software specific service of Huawei device, using an emulator won't work. Also, Android Studio provides Google's generic Stock image so there's no way to create an emulator with EMUI (Huawei's Custom OS).

Emulators let you play console games from past generations on modern hardware, including smartphones. But how do you know what emulators on Android will run well on your phone? You can either go through the painstaking process of downloading the best emulators for Android and trying them out for yourself, or you can save some time and read on as we cover general hardware requirements for all the major gaming generations.

One of the most popular emulators for this generation of consoles is Snes9X EX+, targeting the SNES platform. Its developer recommends a 1Ghz+ single-core device for best results while also noting that older versions of the app are available for less capable devices. Nevertheless, pretty much every Android device on the market now offers a 1Ghz processor, at the very least, so you should have no trouble running SNES games on your device.

Moving to the SEGA Genesis (or SEGA Mega Drive for those outside the US), MD.emu is one of the more popular Genesis emulators for Android. Its team has successfully tested the emulator on older phones such as the Motorola Droid, Xperia Play, and Galaxy S2. The 2009-era Droid only offered 256MB of RAM and a single-core Cortex-A8 chipset at launch. Virtually every modern Android phone exceeds these specs, so you should be good to go.

The most popular DS emulator is paid app DraStic, and the developer actually has comprehensive system requirements on its forum. More specifically, you need an Arm v7a processor or better (basically anything other than ancient Cortex-A5 CPU cores), 256MB of RAM or better, a 480 x 320 display or higher, and Android 2.3 at the very least. The team recommends a quad-core CPU if you plan to run games beyond native resolution.
